The most common adverse effects of the following drugs are listed below.
1. Lamisil AT (terbinafine)
Terbinafine is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails (dermatophytosis). Terbinafine is an antifungal medication. It works by interfering with the fungus’s ability to grow normally. This inhibition is due to the fact that the drug binds to the fungal cell walls in the order of 1mg/L (terbinafine). This leads to the disruption of the fungal cell membrane, causing the cell to swell and die. This effect is most pronounced when fungal cells are stimulated to produce fungi.
2. Lamisil XL (terbinafine)
It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin and nails (dermatophytosis). The drug works by inhibiting the action of an enzyme known as squalene epoxidase, which breaks down ergosterol, the primary component of the fungal cell membrane. This is crucial for the fungal cell to survive and multiply. If the fungal cell is affected, the drug may also affect the synthesis of cell wall constituents, leading to the destruction of the cell.
